New gateways for building and industrial automation applications
Several remote management and gateway products from Viola Systems
were launched at Automation 03 in Helsinki, Finland at the beginning
of September 2003.Arctic 100 "Facility management" has been developed
for building automation and facility management uses Simple Network
Management Protocol (SNMP) as its interface to existing management
systems. As SNMP is already in place in industry it makes this product
attractive, especially for equipment room and uninterruptible power
supply (UPS) monitoring applications. .
Other Arctic 100 gateways include a wireless version for SCADA
in industrial automation. It has an intelligent Modbus-protocol
filter which lowers the air-time over GPRS link and reduces the
cost of communication only a fraction of the cost of a conventional
alternative. There is also a GSM/GPRS gateway which provides a seamless
Ethernet connection for remote management systems over GPRS. This
has automatic GPRS link control with an alarm mechanism and reliable
and easy connection for any device with an Ethernet or serial connection.
