Magnetic flow measurement device offers Profibus interface
Siemens process instruments has released a new version of the
SITRANS FM magnetic flow meter that now provides the additional
capability of digital communications using Profibus PA.
The unit's new features include internal simulation for all output
functions, as well as complete flow simulation, which reduces set
up and maintenance. Troubleshooting is made far easier thanks to
automatic self-monitoring of the converter and the connected flow
sensor.
Installation and set up is quick and easy, through automatic recognition
of the sensor type and calibration data as result of the SmartPlug(tm)
memory chip. When used with SIMATIC(tm) PDM software, the SITRANS
FM flow meter can be integrated directly into a complete Profibus
system, so flow data is available at the control system.
The SITRANS FM is a microprocessor-based transmitter with a built-in
alphanumeric display, and is available for mounting both integrally
and remotely from its flow sensor. The flow meter can be used for
medium flow velocities up to 12m/s and for a minimum conductivity
of 3 µS/cm. The SITRANS FM provides analogue output with HART protocol,
and digital outputs for pulses, device status, limits, flow direction,
frequency output.
