ASi modules offer infrared addressing

Full compatibility with the latest ASi 2.1 specification, enhanced diagnostics, infrared addressing, and an IP67 protection rating are among the benefits of the new Classic Line ASi slave modules from IFM.

Along with these additional benefits, the new modules retain the key features of their predecessors, including suitability for use with both flat ASi cable and ordinary round cable.

Support for the ASi 2.1 specification means that, by using Classic Line modules, users can connect up to 62 slaves to a single ASi master, rather than just 31 as with first generation modules. This doubling of I/O capacity provides significant cost savings, particularly in larger installations, as well as simplifying system design.

To allow users to take full advantage of the increased I/O capacity, and to provide maximum versatility, the new modules are offered with a wide choice of I/O combinations, including the often-requested 4 input, 4 output versions which were not previously available. The facility for infrared addressing allows users to connect an infrared equipped addressing unit and enter the required address without having to remove the module from its base. This makes it simple to perform addressing after the modules have been installed, providing extra flexibility and reducing the risk of errors.
