Fisher Rosemount acquires
Saab Machine Electronics
Fisher-Rosemount,
the pro-cess management division of Emerson, has announced the acquisition
of Saab Marine Electronics AB, the world leader in radar level gauging.
Saab Marine Electronics, formerly a subsidiary of Saab AB, will
become the level instrumentation centre of excellence for Rosemount
– the pressure, temperature and level measurement division of Fisher-Rosemount.
The deal is subject to approval by the relevant authorities.
Radar is the
fastest growing level measurement technology, principally because
of the high accuracy and reliability of radar products, and their
ability to withstand difficult process conditions. Radar level technology
is used aboard marine vessels as well as in land-based tanks at
refineries, terminals, and chemical plants.
“Adding Saab
Marine Electronics to our Rosemount family of instrumentation solutions
gives us a leading position in the rapidly growing land-based radar
level gauging markets, strengthening an important component of our
PlantWeb field-based architecture offering,” said John Berra, president
of Fisher-Rosemount and Emerson executive vice president. “It’s
one of the many ways we’re helping customers improve measurement
and control while optimising the return on their automation assets.”
Fisher-Rosemount’s
strong process market channel will supplement Saab Marine’s excellent
inventory and marine channels and bring its advanced technology
to the off-shore and on-shore radar level markets.
