Multiturn encoder assures
compatibility
This multiturn
absolute encoder is believed by CTL Components to be the first to
feature a 2in diameter hollow shaft. Manufactured by IVO, the G2P1H
programmable encoder is designed to be compatible with industry
standard servo motor shafts, making it suitable for use in a wide
variety of motion control applications.
The encoder
is equipped with a parallel interface and offers a resolution of
24bits, equivalent to 4096 revolutions with 4096 angular steps per
revolution. Output code can be selected from Gray, clamped Gray,
binary or BCD formats. These parameters, together with rotation
sense, are all easily programmed on a PC using IVO’s ProGeber Windows-based
software.
The G2P1H encoder
carries out a self test routine upon installation, and automatically
monitors a number of key functions during operation. It has a supply
voltage range of 10 to 30V DC, a maximum current compensation of
50mA at 24V DC, and a code switching speed of 400kHz.
Featuring an
aluminium housing and IP54 environmental protection, the encoder
complies with the relevant European standards for electromagnetic
compatibility and can be used in ambient temperatures ranging from
–20 to +80°C. It measures 116mm (outside diameter) by 71mm, and
weighs 1.2kg.
