Good advice on power
quality
Formed by five
of the industry’s key organisations, the Power Quality Partnership
is a new organisation looking to help you find the best solutions
for your power quality problems.
The companies
at the heart of the Partnership are the Copper Development Association,
Fluke Industrial Division, Rhopoint Systems, MGE UPS Systems and
Claude Lyons. Together they can offer advice on power quality, and
can demonstrate the capabilities of systems including harmonic reduction
equipment, including isolation and zig-zag transformers, and active
conditioners.
In particular,
the five organisations have joined forces to raise awareness and
promote good practice among designers, installers and maintenance
engineers. Each of the member companies can give support in its
own field of expertise, and provides contacts in other member companies
where that is more appropriate.
For further
information, the Copper Development Association and the European
Copper Institute have produced a free publication, the ‘Power Quality
Application Guide’. This reference source provides not only background
theory, but also the whole range of solutions from industry. And
as it is published in parts, the Guide will be constantly updated
to reflect current thinking and leading edge solutions in this fast
moving field.
The Guide covers
harmonics, resilience, voltage dips and earthing, giving the theoretical
background, problem identification, measurement techniques and solutions.
Each part to be published will be written by the Power Quality Partners
and other technical specialists in their field.
The first ten
sections are available now, written in English, and we are told
that as the Guide expands it will be steadily translated into other
languages.
